This group has been formed to add value to ShapeSpace’s core expertise in Search Technology of 3D CAD CAM file vaults across an Enterprise (CAD files in any format).

Given the company’s focus on manufacturing and engineering companies the Consultancy Services Group aims to add value to its target audience and customer base.

All consultants in this group have strong industry experience, and have worked in major companies delivering systems during business change programmes

ShapeSpace Consultants deliver strategic business improvement projects & initiatives which improve operational & financial performance, in engineering and product development.

The Group combines experience of engineering & product development best practises with expert knowledge digital product lifecycle management (PLM) technologies to deliver improved performance in the following business areas. Collectively there is 105 yrs experience available for our customers. Additionally, ShapeSpace has international partners who have extended reach and added value.

Five ShapeSpace accredited consultants compose the group, in addition to the experience of the 2 co-founders.

  • Colin Andrews a degree qualified engineer and MBA with 25 years Business Process Improvement experience using Lean and Six Sigma techniques learned and implemented at the front line of automotive, oil & gas, electronics and pharmaceutical sectors.
  • James Byrne has over 25 years experience in the Aeronautical Engineering & Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software industrie. He joined Siemens PLM (then SDRC) where he became a leading expert in the Teamcenter PLM solution working on large global Teamcenter deployments including Rolls Royce Aerospace, Ford Motor Company, Volvo Cars, Jaguar Cars and Aston Martin as both a Teamcenter applications engineer and solution architect. He holds a first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, a HND in Aerospace engineering and is also a CAA approved airframe and propulsion systems engineer.
  • Graham McCall has over 24 years of experience in the Automotive and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software industries. He began his career as an automotive engineer with Rover Group in 1985 working as an engineer on various Rover and Land Rover vehicle programs. In 1995, Mr McCall left Rover to work with General Motors in Detroit where as the leader of a cross-functional GM team he was responsible for the engineering and manufacturing introduction of the climate control system on a GM truck program. He joined Siemens PLM (then SDRC) where he worked as a PLM technical manager responsible for deploying Teamcenter inside Ford Motor Company and to the Ford supply chain across Europe. He holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering  and an MBA  He is also a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
  • Mike Philpotts has a design and management background in the automotive and mechanical handling industries. From his industrial background and Product Life-Cycle Management experience he is able to provide advice and guidance on the use of shape classification to reduce costs and improve business and design efficiency by increasing component re-use. He has also implemented ISO9000 processes in PLM and MRP environments.
  • Tom Gill (US/International) led a group of teams providing CAD, CAM, PDM, PLM, Engineering, and CAE support services for the development of metal and elastomeric products and manufacturing processes.  Consulted with engineering and management staffs in 20 development centers serving markets including Automotive, Aerospace, Oil and Gas, and Healthcare Provided support, guidance, planning, implementation, and leadership to a variety of stake-holders in 20 product development centers across the Americas and Malaysia.

ShapeSpace continues in collaboration with Actify Inc and has the considerable resources of Actify additionally available to customers and potential clients.
